| Mamba Max Pro BEC Output Current?
Does anyone know what the current output of the Mamba Max Pro's internal BEC is? I'm running it at 6v, but am not sure how much current it can provide. I e-mailed Castle because I couldn't locate the info. online or in my manual. Anyone here know? |

I do remember reading somewhere is was 3A constant 5A peak and that it changes when the input voltage changes (liner bec?)...But now i cant find the site i read that on. Throw a multimeter on the pos & neg on the rx wires and you'll find out i guess. |

It is closer to 3a, with the output falling slightly at higher voltages. It is a highly efficient switching regulator, but at higher voltages the switching frequency must be higher to prevent shoot-though and this puts more switching losses (heat) into the component.

So 3A seems to be the consensus. Thanks! I guess the next question is if I need more than that to power a high torque steering servo and the receiver. I wouldn't think so, but I've never put an ammeter on my servo when it's bound up. Do any of you have any idea how much current a steering servo may pull in a scaler, not a comp rig?

in my sc10 the mmp wouldn't even turn without brown outs with the 7940th. (which draws around 5a), I bumped the voltage but even then, wasn't enough... bec is required with mmp if you run any servo that is semi-serious imo.
