Default Would this work for a fxr

So I know the basics of waterproofing(balloon, plastidip) and read the waterproofing thread but it talks about alot of esc that used 2s and don't get that hot, but I'm wondering about my fxr and using liquid electrical tape? I'll be running with 3s on it and I was thinking about brushing the liquid tape over all the opening and want to know if this would work for waterproofing and have nothing to worry about with heat

My son waterproofed his FXR with liquidtape. The FXR died soon after.
It may just be a coincidence, not sure.

I lquid taped a 3R winch about a year ago it still works fine. It has seen very little water ( underwater testing) then the scene dried up so I just get it out about every month

Ideally you should not be getting this unit wet. The best solution is a water proofed case/box. Something the wires can pass through gromments and or sylicone filled holes.

i know that but I'm trying to get use the smallest size also, thats why I was wondering if the liquid electrical tape would work unless you all know a place to get a water proof box thats just a little bigger than the fxr lol

if you remove the esc from the plastic housing and then cover with liquid tape you should be fine waterproofing wise but rest assured you adjustment days of the esc are over... with that said you will also need to run a bec to you servo from your batt to prevent overheating.. the water itself will help cool the esc as well.. if only running in dry conditions you could position a fan over your esc to assist with cooling but only in dry conditions.. the novak fans are pretty decent and they plug into any spare channel you have on the esc jus make sure its on the positive and negative terminals.. hope this helps

I know how to do it just looking for people who have used either the corrosion x or the liquid electrical tape and if they had success or failure

In a nutshell I took a plastic spice container with a screw top. Cut it to size and attached the balloon to the open side. This was I can unscrew the top (white piece) in order to get to the esc for programing. Then put the top back on and make it water tight.

Hope this helps.

I would do the balloon but I'm trying to make it all fit in to a small space and have it fit perfect lol if I can find small enough balloons then I'll give it a try,
