Default what i'm i doing wrong, motor keeps giving out.

so i have a Honcho frame, with tranny and axles all stock. it has a JK body with 2.2 mud slingers. i have now burned out 3 motors. this is what i'm running.

ESC: traxxas XL5 water proof.
motor: traxxas 550 titain. 22 t
battery: 3000mha NIMH

i have gone through 3 of these moter, mostly becuse i had 2 more just sitting here.
i use the truck as a trail truck, mud, trails, somr rock. lots of slow driving some wheel spinning in the mud. the built in fan was still working in this one but it slowly lost reverse, and than was jiddery in both forward and reverse. and than lost power and now has finally quit. i get nothing if i hard wire it directly to the battery.

is this the wrong moter, is my battery charged wrong?

any help would be grerat, thanks

Simply put, those are garbage motors. Stop spending the money on those, and get something rebuildable like an Integy, and take care of the thing and all should be fine.

by taking care of it do you mean, cover in foam, clean it, any thing else that you would do?

any other thoughts from other people.

Clean and maintain, and it will have replaceable parts prolonging the life.

I have a huge thread about what I do, it's titled cutting a motor commutator and motor tweaks.

No one else needs to reply because this is fact, and a topic that comes up about every week.

My Axial 27t with a sealed can took a crap after its 2nd or 3rd outing in the mud/water. Brushes were almost non-existant and the comm was garbage.

The rebuildable 27t that replaced it also died, but it was from me pushing it too hard. I took it apart and cleaned it every time it got wet and it lasted much longer.

x2 on what EeePee said! i have never had any luck with any traxxas motor, and mud and dirty water kills motors fast.

Are you cleaning it up after mud runs? (spraying it out with electrical contact cleaner or something?) I've had brushed motors simply get too gunked up to turn anymore with any amount of power flowing through them, but after a quick spray-out, they'll start spinning again- (if you didn't spend too much time arc'ing them at a dead stop.)

I've had decent luck with the 21T 550 motors, but I'm also not sure what other options there are on 14+ volts?

As mentioned, the motors are junk. However, I've had a buddy whom locked up a motor. I took it out of the car and ran it through some faucet water, then hooked it up to a battery and it began running, dropped it in a glass of water and let it clean itself out. Still working to this day. Cheap motors take twice the maintence.
