Power HD servo.(horn ?)

Ok , I purchase a power hd 1501mg servo , as a get me buy untill I get afford to get something better. But I am having trouble finding a aluminum servo horn for it .

I have tried the Dynamite , JR , Futaba ,Hitec with no luck I know that sometimes they fit snug . Though I couldn't get any of them to go on.

So my question is , is anyone running one of these servos an if so what kind of aluminum servo horn Futab/Jr/Hitec and the brand are you using ?

take a sharpie and count how many splines there are on them. Then you should be able to find the approriate servo hro nfor it.

**EDIT**

According to this forum post (found using google) they are advertised as using Futaba servo horns, but they do not. Seems they only use the plastic arms they come with. They have the 23 splines, but the output shaft diameter is worng.

In a post responding to that, another member had stated that he got a dy-bro heavy duty plastic arms to fit with some elbow grease.

If all welse fails, CKRC sells a $20 servo that is basically a towerpro mg885. i know that robitronics sells an HD aluminum horn that fits it (because i have one). Unsure of the spline count, but i'm pretty sure it's futaba.

+1.
Most HiTec's use a 24 spline, lots of Futaba's use a 23 spline.

Hrmm. i search google and couldn't find anything other then saying they use a futaba horn.

I shortly after posting this counted the splines an swear I am counting 25 , I will re count tomorrow when I am not so tired. but it is most def. 24-25 splines.(using the marker method and a fine flat head )

possibly they changed it since then , either way worse case I have to use plastic until I can upgrade to something better.

HD should use Futaba spline count (my mates one does anyway) which is 25t. They are a really tight press fit, but they fit.

Hitec is 24 & JR/ACE/Spektrum is 23.

I always thought they were the same as MKS/Turnigy servo's which is a 25t/futaba spline. The MKS/turnigys really need a good firm push to get the futaba horns on especially if they aren't clamping style.

It depends on the servo from Power HD. Some of the older servos use an odd spline and most of their newer servos use Futaba.

whilst not using a Power HD myself, suggest refer to

Just got a 1501 and wondering if anyone found a horn to fit these. They have 25 splines, but the OD is larger than Futuba. I might see if a Hitec output gear will fit.

Ummm....most HiTec's are 24 splines.....:roll:8)

The only 25 spline servo horn that I could fit to my now in the bin 1501HD was the clamping type. There was no way that I could get a regular style servo horn onto the shaft, I tried plastic and alloy Futaba horns.

I bought one of the Power HD DS8325HV servos and the only arm I could get to fit it right was an MPI Futaba arm, bought one and fits great. I tried them all before I bought these.
