Default AX10 2.4 rx antenna

My friends Losi NC has a 2" receiver antenna...so do all my 2.4 planes.

Why would my 2.4 AX10 have a 7-8 inch antenna?

The Engineer designed it that way? I'm not 100% sure but my FlySky radio has a 7.5" antenna so it's not that unusual. I'm just glad it's not as long as my 72mhz plane RX.

Axial 2.4 radio is a flysky

also i did some tests (by accident) but the radio is still good up to 20-30 ft with NO antenna. Well this holds true with a ct6b. The gt2 radio may not have enough power but who knows.

I'm assuming you mean, no RX antenna?? No TX antenna usually burns the output section up due to no load.
No RX antenna on a crawler is not a big issue, we are never very far from the rig.
A go-fast or plane is a different matter.

The reason for my confusion is I always thought antenna length was primarily dictated by frequency, so 2" or so was the "proper" length for the 2.4 RX.

There is no "proper' length for a 2.4 antenna that i'm aware of (FM/AM is another story).
Antenna length with 2.4 allegedly relates to range & signal strength more than anything else.
Longer the antenna, better the range & signal. Thats why you get extension antennas for your 2.4g wireless modems/routers, cordless phones etc.

Either way, have fun and enjoy you rig...
