| Is this a decent LiPo charger/balancer?
Trying to get an idea of cost and options for switching over to LiPos. Is this a decent charger? Tritan EQ AC/DC multi charger/balancer.

Yeah, decent enough. I like this one better. Similar specs for a little less money. There's offshore retailers who have chargers for as little as $20, but there's also a lot of complaints about having to ship a non-working charger back in order to get a new one. If you're just getting into Lipo, I'd rather se you with the Triton or the Onyx, as I think IF there is a problem, you'd have better luck getting it corrected. |

If your budget allows for a triton eq then I would say for sure go with a Hyperion EOS0606i or EOS0720i net3. I have both of these chargers and swear by them both, many options and can easily get different balance boards for different balance tap styles. These chargers will ship with JST/XH (most common) and of course hyperion style balance boards. Also when making the switch know that you can get very economically priced lipo batteries that function great...christhebatteryman "Elites", Hobbyparts "blue" and "SKY", Hobbyking "Turnigy" and "Turnigy NANO" EOS0606i....http://www.maxamps.com/EOS0606i-AC-DC.htm EOS0720iNET3......http://www.maxamps.com/EOS0720i-NET3-AC-DC.htm Last edited by Wasp26Jim; 05-28-2011 at 11:57 AM. |

The Thunder AC6 is one of the best budget chargers around, search around many people here use them. http://www.hobbypartz.com/thac6smbachw.html While you are there check out their selection of lipo's especially the gen ace brand. |

Thanks a ton for the replys guys! This helps a lot. Unfortunately my budget wouldn't allwo for either of those Hyperions, Only reason I was thinking of the triton eq is because a guys is selling a couple for $85.00 used. Although I might look into that thunder AC6 now. for $45.00!! Thats awesome and it has great reviews too. | |

when I first got into lipo 3 or so years ago, the best advice was to get a decent charger cause it will never go bad, I got a triton EQ and still have it, I have no plans to replace it, it's a great charger. the thunder AC6 chargers are very good for the money, all the same features as the triton eq if I was just getting into lipo's now, the triton EQ (or EQ2) and the DuraTrax Onyx 235 are up front, with the triton leading the way only cause it has a larger screen. if you race, a multiport charger would be a good option aswell, hitec makes one that has 2 outputs, aswell as one with 4. (there are cheaper ones from overseas manufactures, but i'd stay away) |

Thanks guys, I'm going to go with the Thunder AC6 And a few Blue Lipo 2 cell 800 mAh batteries My next few questions then: 1. connector types. The Blue Lipos have a JST connector. As for the charger I'm assuming that one of the connectors on the pic accepts JST connectors... It doesn't say it in the specs and I'm not familiar enough with them just by looking at the pic but it looks like there is a similar one (the red one) here is the link, if someone could verify it for me: http://www.hobbypartz.com/thac6smbac...ProductReviews 2. Since the battery has a JST connector and I will be using a Tekin B1-R ESC what am I going to need to order so that I can connect the battery to the ESC? Thanks for the help all!! |
