Brush Springs I have always been told that brush springs get firmer as you go from purple to silver to black. I have some of all three and the purple springs feel the strongest. Today I was told that spring colors don't make much difference anymore and that its best to make your springs stronger by bending them. Any thoughts? thanks |
If they are all trinity springs, that is correct. Blue Super Light Green Light Red Medium Purple Heavy Silver Extra Heavy Black XX Heavy Now, there is an older trinity black spring out there that is black, but they are polarized (for positive side only)...... Where it gets weird, Reedy, Orion, etc all made springs in various colors, with black and silver being very commonly used, even in multiple different spring rates. There is no way a legit trinity purple is heavier than a real trinity black or silver.......they are both like coat hanger wire. In the end, the best way to do it is a spring gauge and bend them....you can only make certain springs so stiff though.... Later EddieO |

Strange, my integy unit always worked fine.....just was a pain to carry to racers with everything else and you could not measure on the motor.... We used to measure our race springs before big races with it, to make sure they were within spec....the trinity blue-purple weren't super consistent in quality control. I had reds that measure as purples or greens.......greens that were blues, etc.... I never liked the trinity spring thing....the fiddlestick was and is still the best, the slot car guys still use them. Later EddieO Quote:
