Default Rx pack Help pls (traxxas 2216 4ch micro receiver)

I am trying to run an rx pack for my steering servo but when I cut the red wire I get nothing to my motors??? It worked Disconneted when I was using the stock rs10 radio and receiver but a bad servo burned up #1 ch on 2 of those lansu receivers so now I am trying my traxxas radio. I am running a super rooster with the traxxas micro receiver as stated in the title. Should I just leave the red wire connected it seems to work but I'm scared to burn something up so I haven't ran it that way! Any help is much appreciated!

when you say you cut the red wire, do you mean from the esc or rx pack?

if the rx pack is supplying the servo, and not the receiver, then leave the red esc wire in the receiver

I disconnected the red wire from the esc it worked fine with another radio n receiver setup I use to have but doesn't on this traxxas setup.

To be honest I'm not exactly sure. Every time I tried this before had the wire pulled with everything powered off, I powered everything on this time then pulled red esc wire and everything stays functioning properly. I turned it off and then back on and tried it again and it still works.
