Default What LED systems you use for night crawling?

A group of guys I hang out with like to do night runs while the sun is down and its just a bit cooler here in Texas. Now I know there is many LED systems out there but what really holds up and lasts a long time? Buddy at work has a flashlight that runs a 5mm LED with 2AA batts and boy is it super bright. Love to have on my rig.

I run a few sets of the Traxxas LED kits and wire them to a 2nd lipo battery. Also use the 12Vdc white LED strips that you can buy at Auto Zone for your car. They work best for an under body lighting.

So like to see what people use to get the ultimate use out of LED systems.

On top is Traxxas 4 LED set. And headlights/tail was a kit from ebay. Under body and bumper are 12V white strips sold at Auto Zone.

The gang is ready to go for a night run.

Different view

Used to do Mud Bogs. But got tired of cleaning after every run.

I sell my 8 LED kit for $12 shipped. It comes with 2 red LEDs for taillights, 4 white LEDs for headlights and foglights, and has 2 blue LEDs for rock lights to go inside the wheel wells. Plus, the supplied PCB can house up to 10 LED connections. All that for $12. You can beat it with a stick.

I got mine from www.billscustomrclighting.com and I love it. Very bright, well made, and the perfect length of wires.

Here are some crappy cell phone pics of it on my rig:

What I would like to know is if anyone has figured out how to make a Lighting system\driver that can be switched remotely by the transmitter through an unused channel.

Default LED's with forward, brake and backup lights

My truck came with a simple controller that just provided 4 simple white led's in the front bumper and in the off road cans and then 2 red led's in the back bumper. I bought a controller, from HEYOK a member on this forum, that added brake light, back up light and forward light control.

a more detailed write up can be found on page 2 of this thread:
Brake, Reverse and Driving Light controller $30

This is what it looks like now.

I have just what you are asking for:
This one works from a two position or three position or analog channel
Just plug into the unused channel and plug the other end into your LED lighting string.
Remote Switch For LED Lighting

This one works from a three position or analog channel and will let you work two independent outputs
Dual RC Switch for LED lighting or ?

And as Scor1pion mentioned, I make a lighting controller that plugs in between your receiver and ESC to operate your brake and reverse and driving lights:
Brake, Reverse and Driving Light controller

I really like the new SMD leds, the tinyist leds available. 3/16 x 3/16 square and 1/16 Tall. about 2mm x 2mm
I bought 60 of these for $12. shipped from California

I have not yet installed lights on my own rig but here I have installed them on a RCkjeep's buggy.
The Light bar is 5mm leds
and the rock lights are the SMD's running on 9 volts

While rigs such as these are not my choice, I have to say you've come up with some wild & useful lighting set-ups.
Sooo.....I give to the work everyone has done.
Hmmmm...maybe I need to do a simple set for my 2.2 Bully comp rig for evening practice......

I do it for the fun and challenges the limited amount of light from the rigs. Its one thing to see where you are going during the day. Night runs under the moon become another challenge.

And instead of running in 100 degree weather , its just a bit cooler when the sun goes down.

Have you seen this one? It has 5 different light modes that you can control with your remote's 3rd channel. It's waterproof and super bright up to 800 lumens!
