Default How Hot is To Hot? ?

I have a honcho with the stock ESC from a LNC along with the 12T Traxxas slash motor with a 20 T pinion and 2s 3300 mah 20c lipo. how hot should the esc get i have it in a baloon to . iam just asking i just dont want to torch it b4 i get my HH Esc

I recommend 160f or less on the heat sink for best life. My ESC will get above 220f on the sink before it starts to show thermal shutdown. 300f is when stuff starts to get permanently damaged.

Thanks John . I think that iam gonna be going with your ESC pretty soon . Prolly get a 35T also and bump it up to 3 mabey 4s idk yet .

Finally got a battery for my temp gun and after about 25 min or so it was around 150' thats not to bad it was 97 outside and i was running pretty hard the whole time.
