Default Wiring a on off switch to the Axial light kit

I'm trying to figure out how to wire a on off switch to the Axial light kit.

I have a switch I cut off of something I don't remember what but it has a red and black wire coming off it,

My question is. Do I cut the red wire on the light kit then spice the red wire from the switch to the wire closest to the plug in the esc and the black wire closest to the board of the light kit.

Not sure how all that works.

Thanks for the look

a fast little drawing to help.

A switch is a switch, it doesn't care which wire is "hot" or "ground".......So, which switch wire color goes where is a moot point. The important point is what wire (for the light kit) you are switching.

(Electrons or "magic smoke" is color blind, it can give a rats butt what color the wire insulation is, electrons go point to point.)
