Default cc sidewinder sv2 on 4s?

I just put a sidewinder sv2 in my rig and even though I programmed the cutoff voltage for 4s(12.0volts) when I plug in my 4s and turn it on I I just get the fast blinking red light after it arms up, I know for a fact there is nothing wrong with my batteries. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone have a fix for it? Thanks in advance.

Did you calibrate the ESC to the radio??

Read near the bottom of this link..... http://www.castlecreations.com/suppo...mamba_max.html

So you said it is arming?? Or, If your just getting the first series of beeps then it could a simple trim setting.

You running a seperate BEC? I dont think the internal BEC on the Sidewinders can handle 4S.

It could have over voltage protection on built in which would give you the issue, after all, the sidewinder is only rated to 3s. Definitely don't want to run it without an external BEC no matter what though.

The esc works fine on 3s(when programmed for 3s) but wjhen I bump up the cutoff voltage to 12.0v and plug in a 4s is when I run into problems. I am running a sidewinder sv2 with castle bec. I never had this issue with my original sidewinder.

Try back dating the firmware (in the ESC) to 1.24.

good call, i forgot to mention i tried that and the oldest version available was 1.26 i think, that would be awesome if i could somhow trick either the sidewinder or the computer into thinking my sv2 is the older version, its kinda weird and stupid how it works because the same computer offered the 1.24 programming when an older sidewinder was plugged into it. i guess its not all bad if i end up having to run 3s, it would keep me from breaking parts, but i already miss having the torque and wheel speed a 4s lipo puts out. great input form everybody thoug, i sure do appreciate it, please keep the good ideas comming.

Hmmm...in another thread I thought I read that Chris (from CBP) had a friend backdate a SV2 to 1.24........

It was Micro Pros...Castle Creations ESC tip thread(brushed)

I dont think you can go back that far with the new V2.
It also does not support 4s. I couldnt say that you couldn't get them to work but 3s is the limit on the specs.

I had a Mamba Max do the same thing on the newest firmware. Roll it back to the oldest firmware that has the crawler 213% drag brake. I think its 1.30 worked for me.

"3S" = 3 cells in a LiPO pack. This will give you a total voltage that may be in excess of what the ESC can handle.

How many cells in the pack, it's a voltage limit for the ESC, not a capacity (mah) issue.

As to the blinking...read near the bottom....Castle Creations | FAQ: 1/10th Scale Products I'm guessing you need to calibrate the ESC to the RX.

I've found that even with the oldest available firmware that the SV2/SCT's won't run on 4s at all. I get the fast blinking light as well when i try it, so I'm taking its the over-volt protection.

Its only the OG sidewinder that it seems to work with.
