losikid, I like all that you've done with this radio!! Lately I've been adding some RC's to my stable and am tired of having a different transmitter for each one so model memory is a huge plus. After reading a good portion of the posts in this thread, I have some questions.

I am fully capable of learning how to hack the radio but my main computer is a Macbook (not running Windows). Will your software work on a Mac? If not, would you recommend buying the pre-hacked radio from your website?

It will not work with a mac, so yes it be best to buy a pre-hacked unit, or use someone else windows pc

Also, I really only see myself using the 3 position 3rd channel for the Punk dig on my XR-10. Other than that, I don't see a use for all the extra features on my current RC's and future ones (for now). Does the GT3B already come stock with a 3 position 3rd channel? I couldn't find anything regarding that on the hobbypartz website. If I can get away with just buying the radio now, setting up a couple trucks I have then maybe hacking later on, if I feel the need to.

You're quick Does the voltage regulator just draw less power from batteries while still being able to run the radio, thus making them last longer? I'm guessing here, I'm a mechanical guy

Is the 3rd channel able to operate a Punk dig at all? A true 3 position switch would be nice but I'm using a DX3E right now and it's not a true 3 position but operates the dig fine.

I believe the suggestion is 2S LiFe. You could also do a variety of rechargeable AA's (Alkaline, NiMH, etc.....)
With the new voltage regulator (AKA, VR) your battery life goes up a bunch.

Only hacked it can run a punk, it has only a 2 position 3rd channel

If you have the voltge regulator mod, i'd recommend a 2s lipo (6.5 volts is minimum though) without the vr mod i'd say 3s lipo or rechargeable AA's

Ch1 trim, ch2 trim, ch3 trim, D/R can all be used as a 3 position aux channel, THEN you can program ch 3 button to be a 3 position (simply click to cycle)

you won't be dissapointed. Read some where the feel of this controller is flimsy and cheap...next to a spectrum, JR, and a Traxxas...it feels about the same, I can't tell the difference.
