Default running a new brushed motor in water??

friend is doing this with his new emaxx motor thats just a drill motor... why does this need to be done?? thanks

You can do this to wear the brushes down to whats called the comm. Which means the brushes get curved to run more efficiently. You can also just run the motor nice and smooth for awhile like a car and it will work just the same. Hope this helps
