Default Melted a BRXL and it made pretty RED smoke

Not sure what went wrong with my XR10 today. I wired it correctly. I am running a Punk Dig, CC BEC off battery to Futaba BLS157HV servo set at 7.2, 40t Br00d motors. It made a mess. Any ideas?? Don't want to fry another ESC.

Thanks for any ideas and help.
John

Any pictures of the wiring?
It's not often esc's just fail. I would double check your deans plugs, that's likely the easiest place to miss something, and accidentally have the polarity reversed.

Did it go up in smoke right when you plugged in the battery, or when it was running?

Thanks Harley, I thought it should go in the XR10. My fault.

It was running, I don't have any pics because I ripped it out when it started. I'll go back and double check everything. Thanks for the help.

That sucks, hope not much was hurt.
Sorry we couldn't make it to the comp today, sounded great otherwise.

It was a great time, the BRXL was the only casuality. The BEC, punk dug and servo are still good, got them tested out.

If your BEC is fine and it ran, it's not the battery connections. If a dean's plug were reversed it would have taken out the bec, and it wouldn't have run.

Bummer man, I would shoot Holmes a PM and send it in..

Good luck with it.

Sounds like a plain failure of the ESC. Send me an email if you haven't yet and we will get you taken care of.

Thanks so much John, I sent you a email but not sure if you got it.
I saved what was left and put it in a ziplock so it would not stink up mycar if you need it.

There was so much red smoke, I thought I was calling for an airstrike or an evac.

Double bag it, the smell will get through just one.

having watched john wire it up and solder it together, it was done right. i as well have been at this since well yeah around 85 or so too. dam this hobby has changed a lot. gotten a lot better and so many more people involved. more options from vendors, better products, easier to contact people for help or to ask technical questions.

Email back at you.

This was really stinky! Double bagged in the mailing box, I could still smell which box it was at 3 feet. Now the smell is on my hands and won't leave.
