The battery only has 1 cycle on it and has been below threshold for under 10 hours. It is currently on a trickle charge, outside on concrete away from anything. I am sitting here on my laptop waiting to swap it onto the good ol thunder power. As I understand it I have a low chance of some sort of permanent damage which would result in ballooning given the short period of time the battery has been undercharged. FWIW I do have a fire extinguisher ready |

It just started to balloon slightly in one of the cells. Oh well, to the trash with it.

I think to properly discharge for disposal you put the battery in a bucket of saline. (salt water) for like 24 hours.

| I have read to soak it in salt water from as little as 12 hours to as much as 2 weeks. But I have also read the salt water occasionally causes the contacts to corrode and the battery will remain with an unknown charge (and even worse may read 0 volts while still containing a dangerous charge). A light bulb seems like a fail safe way to discharge the battery safely.
