| Tekin FXR Shrink Thread
Hey all, I am going to be posting a few threads soon, showing some of the work I can do, to promote my little side gig in the link below. Been doing stuff like this on the side for buddies and my own rigs for quite some time, and figure I may as well try to offer my services to those who cant solder as well. Hope this is helpful or interesting to you guys. Sorry for the crappy cell pics. Custom Soldering/wiring So my buddy Jon was nice enough to lend me his FXR's to work over. I actually got this idea from William(RCBro) when he texted me a pic. Thought it was a cool way to shrink dual ESC's. This is how they came to me. 2 FXR's and a CCBEC. All dis-assembled In this pic you can see that I added a fresh receiver wire, and bridged the switch leads. Not the prettiest in my opinion, but Tekin doesn't give you much wiggle room lol Now I took out the pins. You will see in a minute why I am doing this. The other done ESC Fornication. There's enough room to put a small screw driver in and program the bottom deck Shrink wrapped each level, to keep them from shorting on eachother in the event that there's enough force to break em Now it's time for this mess of a BEC. She gets all fresh wires, and I loop the main power leads back so they exit on the same side as the receiver wires. Soldered the main battery lead all stealth status. Now the motor leads all ninja like And finally, the BEC is attached, and the capacitors. I think he should upgrade to a single bigger one, cause I dont like how they look, but this will do for now. All nice and compact. |

That is some very ninja like soldering. You ever shrunk a pair of sidewinders?

That looks really nice. If only it didn't take 4 weeks in transit plus how ever long it took you to do that to my electronics... Have you thought about getting the receiver included in that set-up? |

Looks great, one of the few times it's desired to have a "small thing". |

Nice work, Chris. I have a MMP and a BEC we might need to look into shrinking up. We will talk next week.

Looks very neat and tidy but your not worried about heat? Part of Tekins design of these esc's and their way of keeping them small is using the solder posts as heat sinks. You've just removed 80% of the 2 escs cooling ability and sealed them shut (no airflow). |

I have done a similar job to another buddies truck, and he has no issues. These little crawlers generally dont pull much current, so I dont think heat will be an issue. But that is a good thing to know, so I can warn customers in the future |

very nicely done Chris. I think this is just what my XR needs to get everything out of the chassis. Now I'm gonna have to pull them out and do this to mine. Then I can build the mount that I have been thinking about building to get the esc's onto the fron axle and off the chassis. |

| It doesn't make sense for them to be pull double use as heatsinks, I mean there is current running through them, and they aren't attached to anything besides the board itself.
