Default MMP burning up???

I just installed a Mamba Max Pro and Velineon motor in my SC truck, glitches and falls flat on its face with a 6 cell Nicd when I hit the throttle. I figured ok weak batteries maybe thats normal, charged up a new 2c Lipo hooked it up and the Esc started smoking and shooting sparks from right above the sensor plug.
I hooked up an older 2c Lipo and had the same problem as the Nicds but no smoking. At this point I'm lost on what to do, anyone else have issues like this? is it Esc or a battery problem?

Have you checked the settings on the MMP? Sounds like its in brushed mode when it needs to be in brushless...

My first MMP did similar the first time. The second time, it did a total melt down and took out my 5000mah 3s lipo at the same time. I sent it back to Castle. They sent me a new MMP, and its been good times.

It's set on smart sense brushless. just tried a Nicd pack and it turned on and worked the same as it did before. still starts smoking as soon as turned on with the Lipo :(

Sparks are NEVER good.

Sounds like it is time to call Castle. Sounds like warranty time..
