Marbe the motor in the servo shorted out internally. I think the MG-645 fairly cheap. Might wanna think about tossin it or seein if Hitec might warantee it.

Just a shot in the dark but I once burned up a traxxas waterproof servo when I replaced a gear and put it together wrong and it couldn't center itself and it burned up the motor.

Can you turn the output back and forth (with a horn installed obviously) by hand when it's unplugged?

Yep, 1st thing I would check.
If it dosen't move, open it up and check for broken gear teeth or "bits" of stuff floating inside the case. Also check the shaft holes in the case, they may be worn and allowing the gears to cock and jam.
