| Motor keeps cutting off! :(
Alright, so i have the holmes hobbies 22T mini motor for the mini rock crawler. after some run time, about 2hours in total, i noticed that the motor keeps cutting off, and it is not due to a dead battery or bad brushes. Also, after this issue, my motor is now running very slow, and its causing me headaches.. I did recently wipe the brushes and com, and this helped the motor run without stopping, but after a run it began happening again.. Does anyone know what I can do? Thanks |

Alright. And it's copper. When it cuts off, what happens if you give it a push? Does it start to run again? |

Yup, when I give it a little push, the motor begins to start going again.

Comm cut needed. Email JohnRobHolmes if you don't have access to a motor lathe.

i have seen some instalations where the brush wires were either too short or caught on the endbell preventing the spring from being able to push the brush all the way in. check to make sure this isnt happening.

Also check to make sure the attach point on the brush to endbell is tight, it's possible it's a little loose. Make absolutely sure the brushes move freely as well, no binding in the brush hood and the brush leads are not hanging up on the hood or spring. How long are the brushes?

alright, ill check that up tomorrow. As for the length of the brushes, they are about a good 6mm, so there shouldnt be any issue there.. however, i did notice that the brush itself was pretty browned out. close to a black. does this affect anything? i used to run 13t brushed motors on my slash, and i know that the brushes themselves had a good bronze color to them even after a lot of runs. however with these brushes, they have a charcoaled look on them. is it pretty normal? |

oohhh! hmm, thats strange, in total i have had about 2hours run time on this motor. is it supposed to wear this fast? my 13T has been ran hours on end without facing this issue.. only issue ive had was that the motor brushes got way to short, and needed to get replaced. |

It's possible there was some dust/dirt in the brush hood that hung up the brush, or, the brush lead was hung up on something reducing the pressure of the brush against the comm. I can't be sure of either, but you are wearing the brushes out fast and getting them too hot.

yea, its in scrap shape :( but! i just looked at the wires to the brushes, and noticed that the spring to push in the brushes were getting blocked, since there is a little gap that ends too far away from the brushes, and allow full use of the brush, so i just pulled the spring back, and make it straight, rather than having a hook at the end. This pushed my brushes into the com, and now it runs just fine! !!!!! WOOHHOOOO its still running with a really beat up com time will only tell. |
