I am looking into installing a fully functional police light bar with siren into one of my vehicles. The best ones I have found require it to be turned on and functioned by hand.. What I want to know is how can I mod it to be controlled by radio? I want to be able to turn it on whenever I'm driving it around. Here are the parts: Light Bar: http://www.rcpolicelightbars.com/110...B-2-5-7mm.html Siren: http://www.rcpolicelightbars.com/Siren.html |

There are a couple of ways, but having a radio with 2 free channels helps. You could drive a servo that trips the switch (servo arm against the existing switch or a link from the servo to the switch). If you wanted both to work (depending on the rig) at the same time a 3 channel radio would work. 1 channel for throttle 1 channel for steering 1 channel for siren/lights Optional......3rd channel for siren, 4th channel for lights (or swap those if you want). I wouldn't try to use a RX output to directly switch either one, I would use a servo. Hope that helps. |

There was a company on the web somewhere that makes lights and what not for RC's. I do not remember where/who but they could be controlled through the tx/rx. Maybe some searching can turn them up.

There's a place call RAM rc out of my old stomping grounds of Round Lake, IL. They're more into light packages, but you could look around their site and see if they have any controllers. I think Tamiya has a controller for sound effects (for the King Hauler?), but not sure if it has ports for lights, or if the sound effects are on an integral board. Also don't know if/how they're controlled via radio. Outside of that, Charlie offered some sound advice. Maybe look for an old mechanical speed contol (one where the board glues to the top of the servo), and use low speed for your lights contact, and the high speed for siren (but then you'd need a proportional or at least a three position third channel)(depending on how you hook it up, might need to isolate one or the other with a diode). Micro switches, or snap switches might be the easiest way to go, though. |

You could try HEYOK in the electronics section. I seem to remember him having electronic switches that do exactly what you want. ....and he's an RCC Vendor! |

More to what Charlie said you could use a 3rd channel with a 3 position switch that first turns on the lights then the siren. This would give you lights and sirens or just lights.
