Default Radio extender (or what to call it)

HI!

I have been working on a modification on my Eurgle 3ch radio
The 3rd channel is only ON/OFF and I want to use it for more than that.

My solution is to write some code for an Arduino Pro Mini that extends the features

1st thing is to make sure it is a momentous switch on the Eurgle 3rd channel. I salvaged trainer switch from an old Esky 4ch radio and simply fitted it on the radio, a quick solder job.

A flick of the switch gives full signal (ON) and then springs back (OFF)

I connect my Front Steering and the 3rd channel on the receiver to the Arduino chip and the re are 2 outputs - front and rear servo.

Now I have multiple steering modes available for my crawler at the flick of the switch

1 Rear steer is same direction as front steering

2 Rear steer is inverted

3 Rear steer is neutral, front is active

4 Front steer is neutral, rear is active

This is a great extender to the Crawler and the 3rd channel It really helps me do what you need a much more expensive radio to solve.

Please let me know what you think about it.

WOW

Cool project. It looks like you have covered all of the modes someone should need, any chance we could see a video of this guy in action?

The radios that come with the Redcat RS10, Rockslide Super Crawler, and Ground Pounder come with the 3rd channel pre-set to operate in these modes. the button to toggle between modes is on the handle of the radio and the LED screen tells you which steering mode the crawler is in. No idea how you'd go about programming that into a different radio though, so that's pretty cool you were able to do so.

He simply made a adapter, like the wantamix, that takes the ch1 and ch3 signals form the rx and converts them into 4ws and its options...so i could easily be adapted to any 2 pos 3ch radio

Oh your img isn't working, just fyi

Hi guys!

Thx for your feedback.

The modes are just what I could figure was handy from reading what others use.
I was unaware if there already exist such features or not.

You will see a video when I mount it on my Crawler.
Still some soldering to do...
(you will hear)

Interested in how this went, and if you have any photos or additional info on what you did with the arduino.

Hello!

Sorry for not being more active - I do no use this forum that much any more(shame on me)

The Crawler-adapter works great and is just attached with a zip-tie to the frame. The wires are long enough to cover front and rear servo.

In use it is very simple.

There are no mods to the Arduino - the PWM signal is the only source between servo and Arduino (common ground of course) as the Arduino is not powerful enough for strong servos.

I can take a few pictures when I power it up next time.
