Default AX-2 transmitter 2.4ghz

so i get my new RTR SCX kit home and out of the box... some brand new batteries and not even 4 mins of power on run time.. (less than 6 ft of truck travel) the radio fries.... completely dead.... wont power on... smells like a RC radio Barbecue.....

ANYONE had this happen.. or heard of any other issues with the AX-2???

Axial is apparently on Vacay until the 15th... so im gonna call them up then an see what can be done... but i was just curious if i got the ugly duckling or if its happened a few times before...

I got a Wraith and have had no issues with the radio or esc in it.

Did you try another set of batteries?

I have never heard of a radio burning up, but there is always a first for everything...

I am sure Axial will work with you on this issue. Must have been built on a Friday...

When I got my first crawler a few years back, an AX10 RTR with the first radio type (AM), the same thing happened to mine.

I put the batts in and in under a minute it heated up and I
barely got it opened up to pick out the batts before it completly
melted. You could see where the wires had burned into the plastic tho.

Im not new to RC or electronics, but you will have to take my word for
it that I put the batts in correctly, and I know I did.

I have to figure someone at the factory just messed up putting
the batt tray wires in, because I didnt want to open it up before Axial
could have a look at it.

I wrote them an email about what happened,
and they took care of it.

It was a long time ago but if I remember correctly,
Im pretty sure they will ask you to send them your burnt up radio before
they will send you out a new one.

Pretty standard practice or they might get taken advantage of a lot.

I opted to use a faster, and bit more expensive shipping method
to speed things up a bit and they were pretty quick on their end about getting my new radio to me.

Just have to hope they have some on hand to ship to you......

Sorry to hear you had a problem. Good luck.

lol yea the batts were put in correctly.... i did get ahold of my Local rc shop and what was their policy as "no returns on opened kits". But because i know him pretty well he's gonna take a look at it and either upgrade it or replace it... so we'll see what he can do for me.... Id rather just drive the 15mins down there to drop it off over paying $10 shipping to send them their mistake and then wait a period of time to finally start driving my "READY TO RUN" kit lol... will keep updating as time goes on
