Default 7950TH Noise Clicking without load/at neutral

Picked this up used off a forum member here, I noticed it was making some clicking noises. A few of the guys I crawl with have the same servo, no clicking, kinda strange.

Uploaded some video, apparently this little pinion gear coming off the motor is twitching pretty badly. If I put my thumb on various places of the circuit board it'll stop making noise & become quiet. Second video should be up shortly it's stil processing, just shows the pinion gear twitching in low quality...

oh that clicking noise, i thought you meant something worse.

that is normal, i believe the circut board makes that sound tracking where the "coreless" motor is positioned at, in order to determine how much more turns it should do to be as accurate as your steering wheel.

also, this allows it to be centered a lot better compared to analog, because analog checks the rotor like less than 100 times per sec, where digital checks the rotor like 500 times a second, i forget.

dont worry, after looking at that, i may be a dumb@$$...

BTW, is the Servo really loud? i could barely hear you in that vid.. im starting to think that your servo may have a bad servo amplifier i beleive it is..

turn the audio up on the vid, it's pretty loud, in a quiet room I can hear it from more than a few feet away.

yup had it alll the way up, and then i heard that servo.. sounds very loud.. But from how you described it, sounds normal.. my 7950th in the beginning could be heard from about 4-5feet.. then i think i got used to the sound, or as i ran it, the noise just went away..

About that little gear twitching, it could just be the servo checking where the rotor is placed at, to make sure its centered.

x2 That's the servo trying to make sure it's centered. If you'll mount it on your rig and turn it on...you'll notice that if you push the tires a little off center itll make that noise...and if you fiddle with them enough you can get it centered and it will stop making noise.
