| bought fx-r
I went to hobby town and picked up a tekin fx-r for $90. Now I'm just trying to figure out if I wanna make my scx10 fastish or baby crawling slow. I do more trails then crawling and I have a venom fireball 15t motor and a integy 65t... What should I use...? Hmm

Use the 15 turn for going slow and the 65 turn for going fast. Sweet post. |

Based off of your question about the lipo, I would suggest you go with the 65T. I don't believe the fx-r is rated for anything under a 35T on 3s. Better yet, look into a good 35T and gear it however you want. In the event you don't want to follow my advice, I would suggest you go with the 15T, slap a 7t pinion on it, throw a ginormously over sized heat sink on both the esc and the motor (preferably something that weighs 2lbs or more), order up a custom 12 cell nimh stick pack ( be sure to configure the cells end to end), take out the old camcorder and let er' rip! I never said I was running 3s lipo. I'm gonna be running 2s cause I'm not a idiot. I'm not gonna start over heating shat. If I were running the 65t id think about getting a 3s pack but I don't have one. I'm not sure why people are busting my balls.. could ya fill me in? My bad. I miss understood your post. I don't have $30 to $60 for a 35t motor right now. I just think with the 65t it'll be too slow for my liking. Last edited by troy95chevy; 08-22-2011 at 05:50 PM. |

In all seriousness, your initial question was the reason your ball are being broke, it would go without saying that the 15t would be fast and the 65t would be slow. The reason we can't just give you a solid no nonsense answer, has a lot to do with the fact that most of us are grown men who play with toy trucks, you have to expect a certain level of juvenile behavior. With that out of the way, I ran a 55t when I first started, it was painfully slow. The 45t that I went to after that was a whole world better, but the 35t I now run is perfect. You don't have to spend big bucks, look at integy's lathe motors, or even a stock axial 35 or 45. I think you'll kick yourself if you do the 65t, but the 15t might not have enough oomph to get you out of a jam. There's only one way to know, try it.I wish you luck my friend. | |

SHeesh, I obviously missed some posts..... OP, brushed....low turn # = fast but crappy torque.....high turn # = slow but great torque. More cells (any type of battery) = faster rig until you let out the magic smoke..... |

I tryed the 65t first and it was way too slow for my liking. The 15t was fun to dto wheelies with but its not gonna work either.. looks like I'm gonna have to go get me one of them 35t lol.

Is this the part where I say "Cool story, bro." ? JK, congrats on your purchase, I think you will like it. A 15T might be a bit intense for a crawler lol but whatever tickles your fancy! If I were you I'd get a 35T, run 2S if you want slow crawling, throw in a 3S for some more speed. |
