| Another "Will this lipo work for me?" thread
I am making the move to Lipo and have already decided on the Thunder AC6 charger from Hobbyparts, but I am still stuck on which battery to run. I am thinking that this one will fit the bill, but I don't know if it is the best choice for my setup? The rig I'll be running it in is an SCX10 with a Novak 55T motor and a HH BR-XL. Right now I am just driving it on my backyard course, but I will be running the next round of local comps so I need a battery that will last through that. Right now, I get about an hour with my Nimh pack, and I'd like to get at least 25-30 mins on any Lipo I get. Also, would it be better to get the 4S version of this pack to run at 14.8v? I can probably cram it in, but I don't know if I'll need that much voltage to run the truck. Thanks. |

3s is probably fine, but most people recommend 30-35c batteries.

Yes it will work just fine and you will probably get the better part of an hour with that one. If it was me though i would go with something a little bit better like about a 3000 mah with as high a C rating as you can afford. My 3000's 40c 3s last about 2.5 hours in my scaler with a HH 35t and sidewinder esc. http://www.hobbypartz.com/98p-55c-2600-3s1p.html |

A 1500mAh for scaling and light comp use will be fine. Like posted above, you'll get about an hour. You'd only need something bigger if you are planning on doing long koh/G6 style races.

The ESC will not ask for more than 80A but the battery can supply more. This is good. I believe having a battery that cannot supply the ESC and motor with what it needs is worse. | |

| That helps. I was hoping to come in under $100 for a couple of batteries and a charger, but I'd be paying a lot more at the lhs for the same kit. Thanks.

That battery will work perfectly. C rating is tied to MAH and you have to look at both. A 25c 1550 mah battery will give you up to 38.75 amps constant. That is plenty for a 55t on 3s. A 25c 3000 mah battery would give you up to 75 amps constant.

I run a 2s and a 3s Holmes Hobbies 1300mah 35c lipos and they are great! scince you have a 55t in an scx-10 i go with 3s hands down to get some speed back. and that should easily net you 30 min. |

| No your motor and esc will only pull the amps it is capable of pulling. You dont want to put a battery in there thats less though ie: putting a 80amp battery to a 100amp esc. The esc and motor will be working harder than it needs to and can and will puff a lipo. As a rule of thumb always get a lipo thats can provide 20% more amps than your esc and motor can pull. That will make for a happier, cooler, and more efficent system.
