Which ESC are you using? The stock AE-1 or the AE-2? Either way, you will probably want to get a Castle BEC (battery eliminator circuit). It will allow you to give your steering serve the juice it needs to steer your vehicle without taxing your ESC.

You can get them from your LHS or from a number of online vendors.

You'll need to have the voltage set on the BEC to at least 6v for it to work properly. To do that you'll also need a Castle Link to connect the BEC to your computer to program it. If you don't want to bother with a Castle Link you should buy your BEC from TCS crawlers. They sell all their Castle BECs already programmed to deliver the correct voltage to the servo.

I know it sounds like a complicated solution to a simple problem, but the glitching is because the BEC built into the stock Axial ESCs is too weak to deliver all the power the steering servo needs while also delivering power to the motor. Some people will say that you should just buy a new ESC, but by adding a Castle BEC you'll add a little life to your current one which will buy you a little time while you start building up your rig.

Sounds like a radio problem to me, either that or ESC.

NjK, does the steering also glitch?
When you upgraded the ESC, did you calibrate it to the RX?
How are the brushes in the stock motor? It's possible it's worn and you actually have a brush issue sicne the problems started when you swapped motors.

BTW, how do you "break" a motor??

Do you have a big long metal antenna (AM) or a short plastic antenna (2.4ghz) on your radio.

If its a AM radio this is probably your problem

That does not answer the question that was posted. Do you have the 2.4GHz transmitter or the AM one?

That should be fine at the distances we normally use.
Is the antenna or RX near the ESC or motor?
You still didn't indicate whether you calibrated the ESC to the RX.
