| How many amps does an Axial 27T motor pull????
Does anyone know how many amps an Axial 27T motor pulls. If it matters, I will be running it with a 9.6v battery. I'm trying to run dual motors on a Traxxas XL5 ESC so I need to know the amperage of the motors.

Depends on everything else. It would pull 500 amps if the battery allowed and the motor was stalled. 15t limit on the xl5- You would be cutting it close with two 27t motors in parallel. With crawler gearing you would be fine most likely.

If the xl-5 has a 15t limit why is paired with the 12t Titan motor in most of the Traxxas vehicles? Or is there some wacky reason why the Titan is special or different?

The Titan is a 550 size motor. Longer can, more wire, more resistance by virtue of longer wires, means it's got enough internal resistance to be run safely. The 15 turn limit on the XL-5 is for a 540 size motor. Shorter can, less wire, resistance is cut down, so you need additional turns to keep enough wire length to be run safely. |
