Does the software start-up?
I'm assuming it states it can't find the ESC?
Do you get any other alarms/alerts?
How are you powering the ESC, sometimes you need it plugged into a battery.
Do you have the on/off switch, if so, is it "on"?

Is your esc soldered to anything else like a BEC?

Have you tried flipping the castle link and esc plug around?

That may be the issue. I wouldn't worry about frying the esc, I have done it both ways with no problems.

For future reference on the board of the Castle Link the 3 pins are labeled. There is a +, a -, and a little up and down thing that is signal. When plugging it in just line up the correct pins with the correct wires (the darkest wire will always be the ground (-) wire no matter brand).

Huh? They should be 3mm screws, go to the hardware store and find some the correct length.
