Default Battery Lead's - Quick Question

When soldering on new deans plugs to a battery pack, do I need to take any extra precautions to keep the red & black wires from touching?

Uh yes.

Do not cut both battery wires at the same time. DOH!

Do not strip the insulation off both wires at the same same. Another DOH!

Strip one wire, solder it on, heat shrink it then repeat with the other wire. Yay!

Okay good! This is what I thought the procedure was but all the vids Ive seen dont really show the precautionary steps at all.

Does it matter if the pack has never been charged?

Nope, even a brand new battery has voltage, maybe not full voltage but there is still a hazard present.
