Default 3s on Axial ESC?

Will the new Axial ESC handle 3s? I know it says 2s on the specs, but has anybody pushed it and not had issues?

Looks like you're the one to do it. Let us know how it works out.
I would say the lipo cut off would not work with the 3s, since is only good for a 2s, like the Rooster crawler esc.

On the AE-2 the lipo cutoff is set to "auto" by default, when you connect a 3S battery it beeps 3 times and sets the correct cutoff. If you have an external BEC you should be able to run it on 3S. I've done it a few times but not for any length of time.

If your talking about the one that comes in the Wraith, yes it will but you have to use a BEC. Look in the Wraith section and you will find more info on it. I am running a 19 turn on 3s and it has been working great.

Ran about 10 full 3s battery packs through mine before I went to Holmes hobbies and 4s. It will handle the 3s just fine for as long as you want it to is my bet

i've bench tested mine on 3s, seems like it'll handle it just fine, I dont have my BEC for it yet so won't run it on 3s, like others have said it does the 3beep to acknowledge the 3s is there, seems to me like it's ready to go on 3s.

once my BEC arrives in the mail, I will be running it on 3s all the time.

why the BEC? is it putting too much voltage to the servo?

If I need one no prob. HeyOK is local and he makes great parts.

More likely you will overvolt the RX, not the servo. It is almost ALWAYS better to run a good external BEC because most internal ESC BEC's are weak. Save your RX and get better performance from the servo with an external BEC.
Most of us run a CC 10A BEC.

It has nothing to do with the rx and everything to do with the type of bec used.

Most lower priced and RTR esc's use a linear type bec. They work best closest to their output voltages but heat up greatly as voltage increases going into them.

The CC external bec is a switching type and more suited to different voltages coming into it.

I'm curious how that will work out, just got a Dingo RTR myself as a loner/backup rig. Sure would be nice to use 3S since I only have one 2S pack. I wouldn't even attempt in without a CC BEC.

I run 3s through mine in my Wraith (powering a HH 7t puller) running a BEC. Last trip I went on I ran about 11,000 mah through it (all 3s) back to back (hiking trip).

No problems to date...

The manual ( Axial AE-2 ESC Set-up and Programming ) suggests an external BEC when used with a 3S LiPO.
