| What voltage should a 3s charge to?
Charging a sky lipo 3s 3000mAh for the first time. Currently charged to 12.30 volts, the charger timed out at 120 minutes. Im charging it at 1.5amps rather than the 3.0 that I think it should be able to handle. Is 3.0a right? Anyways, I went ahead and started the charge cycle over. I figure the charger will shut off when the battery is fully charged, just wondering what voltage a fully charged battery will be at or around... thanks! |

x2 on the 12.6 Occasionally mine will time out too. Just restart the charge cycle and let it go. If the battery is worth half a chit it'll charge just a wee bit more mah's than its rated for. Charging at or below 1c is safe for any battery. |

excellent! Thanks guys! What is the math behind this? I figure it timed out with the charge at 1.5a charge, I figure im gonna go full 3.0 on my next 3s charge. |

1000=1.0 2000=2.0 3000=3.0 you get the picture i don't know the exact math |

I said they'd charge over their rated mah, not voltage.

| They're easy really. Just don't abuse them. And don't charge them unattended...if they're going to go they're either going to go while you're using them or while you're charging them.

Hm, looks like my charger only shows the charged capacity, so I don't really know what the total capacity is. It also has an option to discharge a Lipo. Why would I ever want to do that? |

You would discharge a lipo when you aren't going to use them for a while. They'll go bad if you let them sit either fully charged or fully discharged.

The charger has a storage mode too. Would I just use that if I was storing for a while?

I don't have storage mode on mine so I can't answer that. If I'm not going to use a battery that is fully charged I'll toss it in a rig and bomb it around the yard for a while.

Record the mah when it times out and start the charge again, hopefully it peaks the second time. When it does add the mah from both charges and you should get a bit more than 3000mah from your pack. Usually, when you charge ANY pack at 1C it takes about an hour to fully charge from low voltage cutoff (LVC). BTW, if you're practicing enough, your packs should never sit long enough to need a storage charge.

Your 3S is 3 cells so peaks at 12.6V and flat at 9.9V
