| What did I kill?
Sorry, stupid noob question here... Playing in some mud with my Wraith over a couple of weekends. Stock electronics and not waterproofed so I was trying to be careful about how much water/mud it was getting into...but still, had to have fun right? Anyway second day of this I finished a pack (or thought so), brought it home and washed it up. This weekend I went to run it and the throttle is unresponsive. I pulled out the Esc to take a look and it beeps when turned on, has a green light with power which switches to red when throttle activated. Seems like the esc is still 'doin' stuff' or did I kill it? Would it be the motor? Any help greatly appreciated. How do I troubleshoot this? ...Anyway it was a good excuse to by a TorqueMaster BR-XL |

I have a lot of problems with my receiver getting wet and making everything go to hell. Maybe pop it apart and try drying that for starters

You can chuck it in a back of white rice too. That will help draw moister out. What did you mean by "washed it up"? Like, with a hose, or...?

Rx, ESC, or motor. 1) put it back together, power on, pull the throttle a little, and push forward on the rig turning the drivetrane. If the motor got some crud in the can on the comm, a good push will help get some contact back. If you get a little response, then clean the motor with motor cleaner. 2) Got a spare ESC or Rx to try? Plug the ESC into another rig and try it? 3) Pull the case apart on the Rx and ESC and give a little spray of contact cleaner or rubbing alcohol (little), across the electronic components on the boards. Shake off excess and place in a warm are to dry or warm it up a little with a hair dryer. |

Great thanks for the help! Yeah this last mud run was a week ago so it's had time to dry out. The cleanup was with toothbrush dipped in water/simple green, and i stayed away from the electronics...they didn't really need anything anyway as they were comparatively clean. I'll check the motor contact issue; I did notice today just picking it up that there was possibly sand in it. Another weird thing I hadn't noticed before not sure if significant was after that last run as I was carrying it home the wheels were slowly turning on their own without throttle input. |

Wet servo can also cause glitches like this. Does the steering work when powered up? | |

Most likely the ESC is done. If you have a gas oven you can put it in there but dont turn it on. The pilot light only will dry the insides out in a little while. I have herd of people in the RC airplane world of washing their ESC's in fresh water after a crash into a river or swamp and drying them this way and having them work again. I have killed a few myself but none of the tricks did anything for mine. |

If anything I would take the ESC out of it's case and wash it with 90% isopropyl alcohol then stick it in a bag of rice for a couple days. Do the same to the RX. Or just get a waterproof BRXL and follow the guides to waterproof your servo and RX.
