Default Why am I browning out?

BRXL less than 10 hours runtime
55t sport less than 10 hours runtime
7950TH lots of runtime
DX3c less than 2 hours runtime

What would cause me to be browning out? I probably fight a brown out 3-5 times per pack. It only happens when the front tires are all bound up, but I will suddenly lose all steering. The only way to fix it is to move the truck with the throttle, then steering comes back online. Sometimes I only lose steering in one direction, but the servo doesn't struggle it just goes silent. My servo gets hot as all ****ing hell, just about as hot as something can get which I can comfortably touch. The servo has not been upvolted.

I ran the servo many hours on a Novak Rooster. Did I ruin the servo running it with such a shitty BEC for so long?

I hope that is enough information for you to help me out. I really hope it's not my ungodly expensive servo.

Likely pulling too many amps with the servo. The HH internal BEC is awesome but the 7950 can pull more amps than the speed control can put out. With a 7950 you really should be using a CCBEC. The more volts you are putting into the speed control the less likely it will be to keep up with the servo as well. So if you were running 2s and moved to 3s or 4s it is harder on the speed control to properly power the servo.

Another vote for an external BEC

Yep, that be da problem. Get a CC BEC and set it for 6 volts or so.

That 7950 works best at 7.4V.

Right but his receiver may not though it is a Spektrum and should be good to 9 volts.

1-While the BRXL is a great ESC, get an external BEC for the power hungry servo (wire it direct)
2-What battery pack are you using, specifically, what "C" rating & mah?? You may be overworking the pack (partly due to age) which makes the situation worse.
3-A long stretch....what connectors are you using for the battery pack??

Thanks guys, sounds like I will be ordering up a CCBEC.

This happens across a few different packs. A new 3S 45C 900mAh hyperion, a new 3S 35C 1100mAh elite and an old 2S 25C 850mAh hobby people. The truck acts more consistent with the 2 cell pack, so I will assume it is the BEC.

Yes, as the battery's voltage goes up from the 2S to the 3S the amperage (current) from the ESC's BEC goes down. Then when both the motor and servo demand current there isn't enough even though the volts are up.

Yep, the forum hit it right. The servo is just too hoss for the stock BEC, even though it is powerful.

When using a ccbec you should bypass the rx with the y harness, then it does not matter what the rx voltage can handle.
