Default Smoked my FXR Pro while trying to calibrate, HOW!?

Alright, what the @*&# did I do wrong?

I'm running a 4PL
BEC plugged into B and wired directly to my Servo
Servo in 1
ESC in 2

Everything Plugged in and I was getting ready to calibrate my ESC to the 4PL.

Plugged it in and it was at full throttle. Before I could hold Mode, POP- throws the black bullet plug off the motor POOF lots of smoke before I could get the battery unplugged. The Capacitor looks fine and not burnt. I opened up the ESC and everything looks fine there too. . . but right after the incident, it was too hot to touch, so I'm assuming I fried the ESC.

I'm not sure exactly what I did wrong. . . I was trying to hit mode to stop the throttle to calibrate but I couldn't even get to it fast enough. . . What am I doing wrong?

I think you are confused on the procedure.
  1. Turn everything on
  2. Hold down mode until it enters calibration mode
  3. Let it find neutral
  4. Then do the full throttle full reverse dance

Castle uses the hold full throttle and turn it on method to enter calibration, tekin's procedure is a little different.

Not sure why the bullet shot off the motor or why it got hot...Seems strange

Also did you possibly plug the battery in backwards?

Any additional information would be helpful.

Thanks for the comment but I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I wasn't pulling the throttle, as soon as the deans touched each other, the crawler just started going fulling throttle. The throttle on the radio was in neutral. This has happened to me before, it just usually stops with the full throttle as soon as you press mode.

Battery isn't backwards, I'm sure of that.

Also not sure what other info to give you. I didn't even get a chance to touch the radio because the crawler was just going crazy as soon as I plugged it in.

Ok, seemed like you had it at full throttle.

Is the ESC new or have you (or anyone else for that matter) used it successfully before?

If its brand new I would think that it may be defective. If it is used there has to be something else going on here. Is it wired backwards with the motor wires on the battery posts or something like that? I cant figure out why it would get so hot so fast.

Any other info on your motors and anything else that might be helpful.

My next suggestion is to remove at least 1 motor wire (wrap in tape) before trying anything else.
Then check the TX/RX bind, recalibrate the ESC and go from there.

note: most ESC manuals tell you to do the 1st calibration with the motor disconnected......I will admit I don't always do that. Sigh.
