Default Novak Goat brushless 2S

I've recently completed my new build and was testing out the electronics last night and noticed the throttle twitching when I used the steering servo. additionally, when I drove at low speed and turned at the same time the throttle began jerking until I sped up.

The battery was new and I hand't charged it yet, so the charge was unknown. Could it be electronic chatter?

I had one that did that pretty bad. Once I switched my tx and rx to Spektrum, it seemed to help it out alot.

so you think it could be a tx/RX issue?

you probaly need a BEC if you dont have one, and my goat 2s system did that untill i got a 2.4ghz radio system

I've got a 2.4 system already.

now I have a new problem, and this one seems silly. I was messing with the ECS to see if it was a setting and I seem to have lost whatever programing I chose 3 years ago.

so now when I turn on the radio and the crawler it automatically drives in reverse until I pull the trigger. I seem to recall it doing this when I first set it up, but I can't recall what I did to stop it. I've tried all 3 profiles and nothing seems to get it to stop going in reverse.

You likely need to recalibrate the ESC to the RX.
Set throttle trim to 0, throttle EPA's to 100% and then calibrate the ESC.

ok, I've set my throttle EPA to 100% LFU and my trim to 0. I'm in mode 1 and it's still going in reverse

Can you reverse the direction in the ESC? If not, try reversing it in the TX.

switching the throttle reverse on the TX only makes it go in reverse faster.

through trial and error I've found a solution that seems to work

throttle EPA is set to 50% in both L.F.U and R.B.D
throttle trim is set to 100%
throttle sub trim is set to -50% L.F.U.

and for some reason this resolves the constant reverse. However, it's still cogging as before. My brother has the rooster crawler system and it's work flawless for him, I'm tempted to sell this goat off and get a rooster. I think I prefer the brushed to the brushless anyway.

You need to set your trim back to zero, endpoints back to 100 and then do the one touch setup to calibrate the ESC to the rx/tx. Your instruction manual and novaks site both have the instructions. I think it's turn the transmitter on, then the ESC while holding the one touch button. After that you pull F/R/N while waiting for the light each time, I don't remember the order on throttle pulls right off, but think that's the right order.

it's actually the following:

With ESC on & connected to a charged battery (transmitter ON or OFF):
1. IF TRANSMITTER IS OFF, DISCONNECT ESC FROM RECEIVER
To avoid possible radio interference, remove the ESC’s input signal harness from the receiver--Green LED will stay on to indicate no signal from receiver.
2. PRESS & HOLD THE ESC’S ONE-TOUCH SET BUTTON
Continue to hold SET button
on ESC until all 4 LEDs turns on.
Note: You will continue holding past all the LED programming indicators in the ESC’s software as shown in the flow chart on back side of this sheet.
3. RELEASE SET BUTTON AS SOON AS ALL 4 LEDs COMES ON
Once released, the 4 status LEDs will flash to indicate what Throttle Profile is currently selected
. The number of times the LEDs flash indicates the Brushless Throttle Profile selection (1 of 3).
4. QUICK PRESS (& release) SET BUTTON TO CHANGE SELECTION
Each press will change to the next consecutive Throttle Profile. (After Profile 3 in Brushless-Mode, the sequence begins again at Profile 1)
Note: there is a time constraint during this selection process.
5. ESC STORES SELECTION & BEGINS TO EXIT PROGRAMMING
If SET button is not pressed for 3 seconds, ESC stores selected Profile in memory, exits to neutral & is ready to go. (LEDs turn off in a rolling motion left to right, then Red LED turns on solid--Green LED will be on if no transmitter signal present & Blue or Blue & Amber LEDs on if Drag or Min. Brakes above 0%).
Note: ESC reverts to factory default settings & Throttle Profile #1 whenever One-Touch set-up is performed (reverts to Profile #4 Brush-Mode if no brushless motor sensor harness is connected).

which I followed and nothing made a difference.

ahh wait. Ok I was thinking of the mode selection.

ok I got it now.

Thanks guys. I need to keep this PDF on hand.

With ESC connected to (at least) a receiver & a charged battery pack:
1. TURN ON THE TRANSMITTER’S POWER
2. PRESS & HOLD ESC’S ONE-TOUCH/SET BUTTON
3. TURN ON THE SPEED CONTROL’S POWER
With transmitter throttle at neutral, and still pressing the SET button, slide the ESC’s ON/OFF switch to ON position.
4. CONTINUE HOLDING SET BUTTON UNTIL RED LED COMES ON
5. RELEASE SET BUTTON AS SOON AS LED TURNS RED
6. PULL TRANSMITTER THROTTLE TO FULL-ON POSITION
Hold it there until the green status LED turns solid green.
Note: Motor will not run during programming even if connected.
7. PUSH TRANSMITTER THROTTLE TO FULL-BRAKE/REVERSE
Hold it there until the green status LED blinks green.
8. RETURN TRANSMITTER THROTTLE TO NEUTRAL
Red status LED will turn solid red, indicating that speed control is at neutral and that proper programming has been completed.
NOTE: If transmitter settings are changed, One-Touch Programming must be repeated. If you experience any problems, turn off ESC & repeat One-Touch.
REMEMBER: Whenever the One-Touch set-up is performed, the speed control will automatically revert back to the factory default settings & the Throttle Profile will revert to #1 when in Brushless-Mode.

thanks again.

I figured you misunderstood what I meant by "recalibrate", at least you figured it out.
