Default old motors

Ok does a electric motor that has just been sitting around for years lose its power? And do the motors from say the 80s use more power than new motors?

I suppose the magnets could become degraded and lose their magnetism, but all mine seem to work well enough. Could also be that the bushings or bearings have gummed up on ya.

Depends on the number of winds, and if there's any corrosion where the wires are connected to the commutator. But if they're in pretty good shape, they should be extremely comparable to 'modern' motors.

I haven't tried any of the motors my wifes uncle has a lot of old rc racing stuff and I'm curious if it would be worth checking into getting some of his motors. They all shouldve been well taking care of prior to him storing them.

You should be fine.
Just make sure the bearings/bushings for the armature are lubed.

I still run 27T brushed motors from 20 years ago. When I dyno them, they pull almost the same numbers they did back then.
