Ok does a electric motor that has just been sitting around for years lose its power? And do the motors from say the 80s use more power than new motors?

I haven't tried any of the motors my wifes uncle has a lot of old rc racing stuff and I'm curious if it would be worth checking into getting some of his motors. They all shouldve been well taking care of prior to him storing them.

i had an old motor from my first blackfoot, put it in in one of my trucks and it was still as strong as it was in the 80s

You should be fine. Just make sure the bearings/bushings for the armature are lubed. |

I still run 27T brushed motors from 20 years ago. When I dyno them, they pull almost the same numbers they did back then.
