Default problems with micro sidewinder and outrunner

I have purchased a used 5g 2000kv outrunner for my micro crawler and a micro sidewinder. It was working ok but even then I was having to recalibrate it basically every time. I found one of the black leads(the middle one) had the solder joint loose and was making an intermittant open circuit and the motor was trippin out. When this all would happen the motor would not spin and jerk around like the timing or advance was not correct. At that time I would go back in and recalibrate to Tx and all the settings(I dont have a castle link yet)

Please if anyone could give me any ideas I would appriciate it. Im going to get a castle link this weekend because programming it thru the Tx SUX!! and I hope I didnt fry the board when I was resoldering that connection because now the motor doesnt do anything. I was careful to not get it too hot and waited between attempts to make sure I didnt heat it up.

Im getting pretty frustrated. advise needed please. ty
