Default in need of a good cheap replacement esc

i have a duratrax cliff climber. been a great little truck right up to ticking a 2s lipo in it. but i got the fire out quick enough that nothing besides the esc was damaged. so im looking to replace the esc. i'm hoping to find a less expensive one than the stock $65 esc. i bought the truck brand new for $100 so i cant justify that , i'd like to find something i can use a 2s or 3s lipo in since i have some old helicopter batteries that need to be used.
anyone have some ideas? i'm still running stock brush motors since this truck is primarily run by my 4 year old

I would pick up a Sidewinder V2 or Sidewinder SCT, they are basically the same thing. You can get screaming deals on the them on Ebay from people who part out combos, the motors are what most people are after so they sell the ESC very cheap. I just picked up a pair of them for $35 a piece.

thanks for the input but then i still have the issue of having the stock 380 brushed motors. i actually have a spare Sidewinder V2 from a mini losi but i didnt think there was a way to make it run a brushed motor, never mind 2 of them

What turn count on the motors? If ~35T and up, just run them in parallel (red to red, black to black) off the ESC.
If you want a "dig", then run the ESC to the dig and motors come off the output of the dig. You will need a radio capable of running the dig (only some 3 channel radios can do it).

Those 390 motors wil not be a problem for one single sidewinder let alone one esc each, and they are programmable for brushed or brushless motors, you can do it manually or via a castle link and a pc

Never heard of it before, but for ~$18, who cares if it works. I would cut off the Tamiya & bullet connectors, they will be issues down the road. Swap to deans or similar.
