Default JR F400ex

has anyone here used this radio for a crawler? i have tried to contact JR radios to get the specs ion this to see if the bec is strong enough to run my truck, but they haven't sent back anything and it has been over a month so i figured i would throw it out on here to see what feedback i can get. thanks in advanced

according to the website, its an air radio, not ground...not that anyone would care..all but the guy on the same channel as you that just lifted his $5000.00 jet in the air.

but to answer your question, BEC doesn't come from the radio. It comes from either a external BEC, like the one castle creations offers..or a external battery pack (say 4 AA's) or a ESC.

BUT it does have 5 channels...which is handy.

+1, the BEC is from your ESC. If you're running more than ~200in-oz, you should run an external BEC unless maybe you're running a Holmes Hobbies BRXL.

As to using an "air radio" in a "ground vehicle" (or the reverse) is "usually" not an issue with 2.4ghz since you should be binding the TX to the RX.

yeah a holmes set up is on my "must have" list, i was wanting to sell the JR and get a Dx5 but that hasnt happened so i guess ill have to use it. i hope the rec can handle the load of the Cirrus cs80 and the cds751mg . thanks for the help

It will handle the load, no prob.

this radio is FM not 2.4..so its not bound to each other...it might be a problem...if your running by a RC air strip that is.

nearest RC strip is on the other side of town. so im good, going to try one more shot at it and see if i can sell it and get the DX5. Thanks for the info
