You need to learn how to solder. It is a skill you will use throughout your everyday life. I would buy a $8 soldering iron off amazon, a few dollars in solder, some spare wire and go to town and practice. It is really not that hard but just takes a little bit of technique.

1-You are making it too hard (and taking up extra space).
2-Yes, you should solder that connection.
3-Yes, you need to learn to solder.
4-An alternative to #3, find a local person that can solder for you, then get them to teach YOU to solder. My LHS would help you out if you were close to them.

what they said. If you can't solder and don't want to learn how, this is probably the wrong hobby for you. Soldering is NOT hard to do...it takes a little bit of practice to do it well, which if you're into R.C. you should get plenty of ( practice soldering, that is) the first month.
Traxxas connectors are pretty good. They handle higher current well, and are easier to solder than Deans. A good solder joint is 100% better, every single time than the best crimp-on/push on/twist-the-wires-together-really-tight connection you'll ever do. Get a cheap iron, get some solder and scrap wire, practice for an hour then solder away

Don't agree with the 8$ iron, I would invest in a hakko iron..waiting for a cheap pen to get hot and non adjustable compared to small gauge wire sodering to 8ga turgny lipos nothing can compare to a good iron...
Make sure you "tin" the connectors and wires then join them together
