Bigger mah=longer runtime...

Traxxas makes like a 8800 and 10000mah battery in I believe 3s. That will last you a looonnngggg time "thumbsup" good luck fitting it anywhere "thumbsup"

Likely going much above 1000mah will get hard to fit. Look up some packs & check the dimensions, see what may fit your rig.

Little packs are easier to fit. and small lipos can be had cheap here: Shop for RC Hobby Parts and Upgrades - Digital Servos, Brushless Motors, ESC, LiPo Batteries/Chargers for RC Helicopters, RC Planes, RC Cars, Robots
get several, carry them in your pocket and they are easy to change out. They also have 2/3a nimh packs if you don't have the equipment for lipo.
Someone on here made a great argument for going this route: if you only have one big battery and you smoke it, you're done. If you have several smaller ones, it is just a small pause to switch batteries.

I use a 1750mah 2/3a battery pack, easy to fit, cheap, and I have a few of them. They give me a little better than 30 mins

I just bought an XR10 myself
when i'm ready, i'm thinking on this battery for it
LiPo 1300 3-cell 11.1v Battery Pack, LiPo 1300mah Packs, Lipo-1300-111-Pack

I am going to look into it further though, i have seen some smaller than that one

ok thanks my battery is 7200mah i think off the top of my head. but i only get like 30-35mins maybe a little more at apush depending on what i am doing. I have never done a comp but I thought they lasted a whole day so surely I will be recharging all day??

benoj 11-22-2011 03:58 PM

i dont know of really and nimh packs rated that high usually only 5000 or so, but ive seen lipos that high or higher but if it is 7200mah u should get a WHOLE lot more run time than 30 or so minutes if running any crawler related motor 27t+

You are AT a comp all day, but not likely RUNNING all day. In our local group, we typically run 3 courses/class (I run 2.2), each course is 5-6 minutes.
This, I need under 20 minutes of runtime/class. In my 2.2 dual ESC MOA, I run 1350mah 3S LiPO packs and can do ~2 courses.

As I stated before, most XR-10 chassis are very tight, anything over ~850-1000mah 3S will be hard to fit.

540 crawler motor I get like 45 mins but with my stock tamiya motor its like 30 mins?

benoj 11-23-2011 05:50 PM

for whatever battery you actually have the run time difference is fairly normal as the tamiya 27t will draw more amps than a 35-55t motor. based on those run times and whether or not your pack is still good i would say you have about a 3000mah pack give or take

George014 11-24-2011 12:49 AM

sorry its a 55t motor and it is a 3000 mah battery that probably answers my own problem Doh!
