| Novak Goat vs Castle sidewinder, help my decide please
I am looking for a new esc for my LNC and have these two available to me, the price is within $10 of eachother but I have no clue what the difference is or which would work better on my basically stock rig. The main reason I'm upgrading is so I can run a 3s lipo. So will these both be a plug and play with my stock controller and the rest of my stuff? Thanks for the help...I'm clueless when it comes to this stuff. |

Either one will work in your rig. Personally, I would get the CC Sidewinder, it has a lot of programming options and works well. Is this a new item or used? Some of the newer V2's & SCT's have had issues (hate to say it, but have to up front). Since most of us also run CC 10A BEC's, the same cable will program the ESC as well as the BEC, this is a plus in my book. Both will do 3S (depends on the model), both do brushed & brushless (depends on the model). Last edited by Charlie-III; 11-26-2011 at 11:42 AM. Reason: Added info. |

If you're running lower torque servos, a HH BRXL can handle it, otherwise, an external 10A+ BEC is needed. Yes, you can run a lot of servos directly off a 2S LiPO, I would highly suggest getting an external BEC though. | |

| Yeppers.....not J/K....... It's your rig, do what you want, in the long run you will likely do better with an external BEC though (unless you're running a BRXL and not too nuts on servo torque). Hey, we all "try it on our own" at some point in our lives, RC stuff can be a cheap way to try this. I'm not here to judge, just offer my opinion. |

Not sure on pricing for the sidewinder but castle stuff is good for sure and fully prgramable on another note a tekin fxr is fully programable aswell and is around a 100$ and has a small footprint and very good equipment too . we have a few guys in our club that run the goats and they have some glitching problems with them but i have no experiance with them so i couldn't tell you how good or bad they are hope this helps you out |

Check ebay, I bought 2 sidewinder sct (same as sidewinder v2) for $35 a piece brand new. There are people on there who buy the combos and then sell the motor and esc separately, since the motors are the hot item for sc they sell the esc's cheap.

Okay a Novak Rooster Crawler ESC just entered my arena as well, I'd like to buy one of these tomorrow as I'm sure they wont be around long, so is the castle still the best bet? I guess the Rooster has a built in 5a bec which doesn't reallt matter cause I ordered a 10a anyway. I know its my rig but I'm just looking for opinions of those who know. Thanks for all the info |

I like Castle, have run Novak & Tekin (running dual FX-R's right now). My son has run a couple of Goats, they died, but they were used, so we have no clue how they were treated before. |
