Default Hyperion 6061 tripping HV alarm

So my Hyperion charger has been tripping the "high voltage" alarm when balancing packs, 2, 3, or 4S.

It states a single cell above 5.5v but when I check the pack with a (Fly - No Fly) meter all the cells read correct and balanced.

I already tried changing the balancing port, still get the same results, trips the alarm on every balance charge.
It's about 3yrs old and I would just continue to use it but I don't think my packs are getting a full charge since the alarm trips before the pack finishes charging.

Anyone else have these issues??

The balance port may be failing. If you are POSITIVE the cell voltages are OK, maybe charge without the balance plug, then do a balance after they are fully charged.
Otherwise, you may need to repair/replace the charger.

We run 2 Venom Pro Chargers, so I don't know your specific charger. Sorry.

Are you using an external balancing board?

Yes, using the external balancing board that came with the charger. I took a chance it was just the board when it first started so I bought another balancing board but it still trips the alarm when balancing.

Here's my concerns with normal charging without balancing with this thing. I have a little heli that uses a single cell pack, 1100mAh. I just ran it through a charge, only took 400mAh before the charger said it was complete and the thing barely has enough power to get the heli off the ground.

So I'm leaning towards the whole charger being a little funky and the balancing alarms are just what's catching it even though the packs show good voltage.

Anyone ever send one in for repairs?

I use the same charger and have had the same issues. Because I run the cheap Hobbyking / Turnigy 2200mah 3s lipos in my crawlers ( $10.00 ea ) I just started charging without a balance and had no ill affects in run time or performance...

After about 5 cycles, I put the balancer back on and it worked just fine. I'm sure this is'nt the answer you're looking for, but sometimes, it seems electrical gremlins are just that...Gremlins!
