Default ESC question for a buddy with a Berg

I sold him a Berg crawler and it came with the motors. It was assembled and we found a traxxas brushed esc from a Rustler or something.

He wants to get a new esc and specifically wants one that doesn't have brake as an option. Forward/Backward. He hates that he has to hit reverse a few times to get it to go backwards.

Any advice? I am definitely not a crawler guy due to time issues.

There are quite a few "crawler type" ESC's that have an option of "Immediate reverse", thus no double pump from forward through "brake" to reverse.

Tekin FX-R's, multiple Castle Creations (Mamba Max, Mamba Max Pro, SCT, V2, etc.), Holmes Hobbies BRXL (the internal BEC will also handle a lot of steering servos with no need for an external BEC) and others.

You DO want brake, just not the double pump to get reverse.

Right and the brake you want is drag brake, most any programable ESC will have this feature although the drag brake will be stronger on esc's intended for crawler use.

FXR's are the favorites in Bergs
