| Throttle cutting out on XR10, but not steering?
Lately I've been having an issue with the throttle (and reverse) cutting out on my XR10. I will have fully functional steering but no forward or reverse momentarily then it will kick back in again 30 seconds later. My setup is as follows: XR10 2 45t Fantom Blitz motors Punk Dig DX3E with SR300 FX-R Hitec 7954SH CC BEC set at 6v 2x Thunder Power 1350maH 3S 25c lipos 1x CBP 1300maH 3S 35c lipo I'm beginning to think it's a problem with the speed control, not the receiver because I still have steering when the throttle cuts out. After wobbling the steering back and forth, it will start going back and forth again. Any clue as to what this issue could be? I suppose it's possible that my speed control/radio setup is almost 2 years old and needs to be replaced? This is the first time I've had this issue and I've had the setup in 2 different RC's so far, an SCX10 and now the XR10. What gives?? |

When the throttle dies, do the ESC lights go out? Is the CC BEC wired through the RX, or direct to the servo? I would likely check the Punk dig if the BEC is through the ESC. The BEC should power the RX even if the ESC is bad, but a bad Punk dig could prevent power going to the motors. If the BEC is direct to the servo, hmmmmm.......same thing, if the ESC died, the RX should die, thus no steering or motor drive. Check the Punk Dig & connections to it. Do both motors die? If so, I doubt a hung brush would happen to both at once. |

Good call on checking the connections to the Dig. I just took everything apart and found that the wires going from the ESC to the Dig came undone. Time to re-solder. Thanks!!

I used to run a servo dig & single ESC in my 2.2 Bully before going to dual ESC's.

If thats not it and your BEC goes directly to the RX then it is for sure a ESC problem.

I'm pretty sure it was the wires going from the ESC to the dig. I soldered Deans connectors directly to the Dig and when I took everything apart, the Deans plug I soldered on was flopping around, thus causing the intermittent problem. I blame my cheap ass Radioshack soldering iron. So glad I have a Hakko FX888 now! Those plugs aren't ever coming undone My BEC goes from the battery to the RX (bind port) with the brown wire disconnected. At least I think it's brown, I'm color blind |

| I'd like to go dual ESC's but that would mean another ESC purchase and a new radio. Quite frankly I have an itch to spend that money on a 1/5 scale gas RC instead Damn this hobby!

None of the BEC's wires should be disconnected! You should disconnect the ESC's Red wire (center wire(I am also partially colorblind, feel your pain!)).

| I'll have to double check that tomorrow when there is daylight but I'm pretty damn sure I disconnected a brown wire. Where it came from, I don't recall exactly but it looked like it was coming off the BEC. What weird characteristics would that cause? It seems to operate just fine with it wired like it is.

Alright the red wire from the ESC is disconnected so no problems there. But having the brown wire from the BEC must be disconnected otherwise my ESC just flashes all the red lights and it doesn't work. Brown wire disconnected, truck runs fine. Guess I'll just leave it? I'm guessing its a binding issue with the DX3E. Any ideas there?

Ummm...You have something screwed up for sure. The brown wire is ground, should be attached and should have any problems with your esc because of that. All lights flashing is the code for no radio signal. Is the light on the rx flashing as well? I think you have the bec plug in backwards... If you can get a picture of the connections to the rx post it up so we can see what you have going on. |
