Question what wire to cut?

I wanna reverse my 2075 traxxas steering servo, do I switch the red and white, or red and black wire? I think red and black, but I would rather know for sure before I start cutting. Thanks.

no wire cutting required, thats the OOOOLLLLLLLDDDDDDDD school way of doing it, you'll ruin today's servos doing that, there should be switches on your radio to reverse funtions, you will want to reverse the steering obviosly.

I should have been more specific, I have a Traxxas 2.4 TQ radio, I am setting up rear steer, I only wanna reverse one.

Thanks

if thats the case you will have to open the servo and reverse the wires on the motor in the servo, changing the polarity of the input power will not work

get your solding iron out! i'm not responsible if you screw it up.

I used one of these when I built a rig with rear steer.
Didnt like the idea of messing around inside the servo
because I might have needed it for another project some day.

Couldn't you just switch the pins on the plug?

No just switching the pins on the plug will most likely fry it....
If you want to reverse the servo you need to either flip the switch on the radio to reverse the channel. Or you need to open up the servo and switch the wires on the servo motor and i'm pretty sure you need to switch the outer two wires on the Pot as well.

On the traxxas website you can downlaod a PDF file for the instructions on how to configure your radio. You can reverse throttle, steering etc... It's fairly simple and understandable

read above; he's doing this for rear steer, meaning he's got two servos. one needs to turn one way while the other needs to turn the opposite way... simply changing a setting on the transmitter will not solve his problem...

and yeah just switching the two power pins around on the 3 pin connector will NOT do the job, as mentioned above. those two power pins supply voltage to the PCB inside the servo which control the servo's movement. hooking power up to it the wrong way will almost certainly kill it.

you will have to either A) buy the servo reverser thingy above (ouch for $20 by the way...), or B) bust out the soldering iron and switch the wires around on the actual motor inside the servo and the potentiometer in there too, which might be hard to do on some because some servos have one or both of those two pieces soldered directly to the PCB itself instead of being remotely attached by wires

What about option C) redesign your rear steering mechanism so you don't have to buy a reversing unit or rebuild a servo?
Simply by changing the linkage mounting points on the rear bellcrank or the rear uprights or knuckles (not really sure what vehicle this is) you can change the direction of the rear steering.

if the suspension setup allows this, that is a very good option as well

bumping an old thread, but I saw this and it reminded me of this thread, so for future referance.

(another inline servo reverser, much better then paying $16.99 for the other one, this one is $1.99)
