Question Lipo Questions

i have a scx10 with a stock motor and a Traxxas xl5 esc. What i am wanting to
know is what size lipo to run to get about an hours worth of run time? i know it
will have to be 2s but how small of a mah rating can i go with? I would like to run as small of a battery as possible as my truck has a yota body with a drop bed & interior so space under the shell is going to be cramped.

Well, I have seen a 1300mAh in one...seemed to be pretty good...with my 45T I get about 2 plus hours of trail time with a 3S 1300Mah

You can go as small as you want, 850 I would think would be half hour to 45 min????

depends on a lot actually, mainly your gearing, motor, and driving habbits

if it's geared too high and it's running say a stock 27t motor and your constantly punching full throttle, a 1000mah battery might last you 30 minutes

but with that same 1000mah battery, you might get an hour if you had lower gearing, a 45t or 55t motor, and were easy on the throttle for the most part

if it's the stock gearing and the stock motor, just with the XL5 ESC, I would try to fit at least a 1200-1500 mah battery it in. if you're willing to loose some wheel speed and put a smaller pinion on the motor, you could probably get an hour out of an 800-1000 mah battery

In general, mah is mah. For a similar voltage (# of cells) the runtime will be about the same with equal mah.

If you have been running 2000mah 6 or 7 cell NiMH packs, you will get a similar runtime from a 2000mah 2S LiPO.

you can get about 45mins to an hour out of a 850mah battery, thats running a 55t motor.. if your crawling a 55t is fine and gives you enough wheel speed.

if your running trails with it then i say go a 45t and a little bigger battery something like 1000mah or so.. im planning on going lipo in the next couple of months myself and will be getting about 5-6 batts anywhere from 850-1500 mah...
