| I'm pulling my hair out at this point! Help
Okay guys, I'm no newby to RC. I've raced competitively for several years. I recently got into rock crawlers. I'm having a heck of a time with the electronics in my recently built Wraith kit. Here's the run down. Tekin RS Pro (sensored mode) Trinity Duo 3 25.5 crawler motor Castle BEC set @ 6 volts JR9100T steering servo Red wire cut from esc to rx BEC plugged to rx battery slot BEC +/- wired to deans esc lead 26/80 48p gearing 2.2 tires 212 software in ESC Two caps soldered onto esc The truck will run just okay for 10-15 feet. If you're more than 1/4 throttle and try to steer, it browns out. Steering stalls, esc loses power, the whole nine yards. I've never had a bit of trouble with Tekin products. The Trinity motor is brand spankin' new. BEC was brand new. Esc had a few races on it. Brand new sensor wire, A B C correctly oriented with one another, etc.. I've went through the simple stuff a million times and double/triple checked. I finally changed to a BRAND new RS Pro (my back up) and I get identical symptoms. Anybody out there have a suggestion for me? |

What kind of battery (chemistry & cell count...) Is the LVC set on the ESC, if so, what is it set to?? Did you try a different battery? SInce the ESC dies, sounds like a battery/ESC issue, but more likely battery. Also, check your power connections, specifically the solder joints. |

Hmm this is an interesting one as it seems like you have done everything you should have done to avoid this exact problem. I would have to say it seems like the BEC is the cause. Is this a Castle BEC? I would suggest trying it without the BEC plugged in and with the ESC providing power to the RX. Report back your findings after doing that. Also you could try running the BEC directly to the servo and use the ESC's BEC to power the RX. That is my preferred way to use the BEC. |

Thanks guys. I'll try it minus the BEC first. It's a Castle 10 amp model. If that solves the trouble, I can live with a little bit less steering torque, as the servo had plenty before. The only reason I used one is from reading and studying people's setups on these forums. I'll report back. I appreciate the responses!

Castle's BEC's have been known to have issues every now and then. Like everyone said just test w/o the BEC first. Lucky for me all 5 of mine never gave me any issues (knock on wood). There's a thread on here about the CC BEC issue if you do a quick search. Good luck! |

I've got the exact same esc, servo, wiring schematic in a brand new scx10 truck with a 13.5 Duo 3 and it works like a champ. So I'm almost certain it's the BEC giving me fits. I'll test after work this evening, thanks a lot guys. Maybe I'll be able to help somebody out on here one day. |

All of my batteries are fresh. I check them with a Hyperion Lipo gauge. They're all balanced very close and generally show between 95%-98% capacity after a balance charge.

You pulled the red wire from the ESC connector to the RX right? You set the BEC to 6V via the Castle link right? Otherwise I agree, it could be the BEC. Have you checked the output voltage of the BEC with a volt meter? I run setups like this with the BEC powering the servo through the RX with no problems too. |

Yes, the red wire is cut just before the esc lead that plus into the rx and heatshrunk out of harms way. I set the BEC output voltage to 6.0 volts via castle link on my pc.

Lol. I simply unplugged the BEC from the rx, soldered the red wire back together on my esc lead, and the truck works awesome. I guess I got a bad BEC. Thanks for all of the tips/info guys, much appreciated!

Try directly wiring the BEC to the servo first before calling for warranty. Im not sure what kind of reciever you have, but maybe the reciever was being overvolted (I know its only 6 volts, but it couldnt hurt to try )

The CC warranty on a 10A BEC (that you've had for a while) is: send it in with $10 and get a new one. Check your output voltage compared to what is programmed in. Some of mine have failed to "full battery pack voltage" and may have caused Servo's to fry. |
