Servo, ESC, and BEC.

Well, I'm ordering a Hitec 7945HS, Sidewinder SV2, and CC BEC today for my Wraith kit. It's my first RC and I'm ready to get it Saturday and get it going. The motor will be a Matrix 55t brushed.

you sure it's the 7945 not the 7955? with either one you will need the bec so that's good. i would stay away from the sidewinder and get either the mmp, the tekin fxr, or the holmes hobbies brxl. there have been lots of people with problems from the sidewinder sv2. also remember with the sidewinder, mmp, or brxl you would need a castle link to take advantage of all the features of the esc. with the tekin you can get the hotwire to do the same thing.

It's the 7945.

Re: Servo, ESC, and BEC.

That 55T will be pretty slow in a wraith...I run 45T's in my comp Berg.

You need to look at a good quality 25T or 20T.

Ditto on the sidewinder...I recently smoked an FXR, so I am installing a BRXL

If it's not for me the first day out I'll offer a trade for a 25t or so from my club guys. Its new, its free, I'll rock it for a outting and see what I thinks. Was that a you wouldn't do a SV2 Sidewinder?

You must be a member of pirate 4x4 with that comment.

Anyways I fried A sv2 and many sidewinders running 3s. I would stick to 2s on any sidewinder. I know the sv2 is rated for 3s but I personally don't think it can handle it. In the wraith I would get a mmp then eventually you can go sensored brushless.

Thanks for the heads up? Almost bought a Sidewinder sv2 myself..

j-bird 12-22-2011 02:43 AM

I ran a sidewinder for a very long time on 3s with a 30t geared at 23/87 and never had any problems with it.. I'm not saying don't get a hh brxl but the cc is a nice esc for the money I would try to find a original v1 sidewinder used in the for sale section for 40 or 50$ and run the hell outta it and if ur wanting to buy a new one get the sct sidewinder instead of the v2 it has a drag brake and has all the same settings as the sport v1 ... Especially If ur gonna run a 55 t you'll be fine on 3s geared at 20/80 I'd even step it up to a 23 or 24/80 just keep a eye on the temp.. If it starts getting too hot change ur gearing

Re: Servo, ESC, and BEC.

I have a 2S battery setup.

Also, won't the SV2, and MMP both go brushless and brushed?

hoghead5150 12-22-2011 09:18 AM

Re: Servo, ESC, and BEC.

yes both of them will do brushless, the big difference is the sidewinder is SENSORLESS brushless, the mmp is SENSORED brushless.

sensored is smooth starts, sensorless is jerky starts.

for a crawler sensored is the ONLY way to go brushless, if you don't plan on crawling and just want to run around at half or full throttle then sensorless is good.

Re: Servo, ESC, and BEC.

Well, my brothers in town so I'll have him use his eBay account today. I may even let him pay for the parts, it tis the season for giving lol. So I'll start getting this Wraith together Sunday and wait for the parts to ship out. I went with the setup a guy told me. I'll find out if I like it but for a $63 shipped ESC and a free 55t motor if they fry I'm not out a lot. Live and learn! It'll take more than a few days to research and I don't even know what I'll be doing with it. I do like rock crawling as a hobby.

Re: Servo, ESC, and BEC.

I wouldn't run a sidewinder. I prefer to buy things once and not have to replace. HH BRXL waterproofed is all you will need. Sensored brushless in a rock racer is a little overkill for my taste and also very expensive (mmp and motor =$300+)

The BRXL can handle up to 6s and is waterproof, can't go wrong, on a 22T and 3s I get plenty of wheel speed. I run a summit transmission though.

Re: Servo, ESC, and BEC.

I have both the BRXL and the Mamba Max Pro. Both are kick ass ESC's. It would come down to personal preference and wether or not you want to run brushless or Brushed. If you ever even want to think about brushless I would get the MMP. Its great on Sensored mode with a good sensored 21.5t motor. I love my setup running a 21.5t on 4s LiPo 87 16 gearing on my SCX10. Good luck

Oh yeah and the MMP can also handle 6s like the BRXL.
